About Pace and Milton

 

Milton is located in Central Santa Rosa County on the banks of the beautiful Blackwater River.   Milton, the county seat of Santa Rosa County, is a vital, progressive city that is still able to maintain the fine balance between small town charm and modern urban life.  Located 20 miles east of Pensacola, Milton offers some of the top rated schools and recreational facilities in the state of Florida.   Santa Rosa Medical Center’s service area includes Pace, Milton, Navarre and Jay.  No matter where your interests lie, Santa Rosa County has something for you.  From the white sand beaches in the south end of the county, to the agricultural communities to the north, this area is enriched with a multitude of recreational and academic activities.

Growth and Population

Santa Rosa County is among the fastest growing counties in Florida.  Once considered the “bedroom community” of nearby Pensacola, Santa Rosa County has outpaced the region in terms of both population and industrial growth.  Santa Rosa Medical Center is poised to grow with this county and we are committed to maintaining excellent care to keep up with this dynamic community. 
 

Schools

Santa Rosa County School District is one of the highest ranked school districts within the state, with a district wide FCAT score of “A” in all grades tested in the 2008-2009 school year.  The administration and the teachers that make up the school system are truly “top of the class”.  Their commitment to education is not just limited to the classroom, but it extends to extracurricular activities as well.  With one of the strongest athletic programs in the area and their commitment to providing cutting edge ideas in education, they provide the young adults in this county with one of the most vibrant, value based educational experiences in the Southeast.

Shopping and Entertainment

Primary recreation in the area includes a vast array of water sports, organized youth league soccer, football and baseball, as well as the world’s most beautiful beaches.  They newly developed recreational complex is a major draw for regional soccer and baseball tournaments. 

Often referred to as the "Canoeing Capital of Florida," the Blackwater River provides some of the most scenic vistas in the area.  The area also boasts some of the most productive hunting and fishing in Florida.  Within a 20 minute commute to Pensacola, there are 2 large shopping malls and other specialty stores.
