Director, Medical / Surgical Unit

Job Description

Santa Rosa Medical Center, a growing acute care facility in Northwest Florida, is looking for an experienced, organized, and motivated, Director Medical Unit, who is interested in being on the forefront of new growth.

Description of Duties

This position will report directly to the CNO and the director over a 38 bed medical/telemetry unit.  The position is responsible for providing overall direction and guidance for staff to achieve hospital/unit objectives.  Responsibilities include unit specific policy development, fiscal management, and continued growth of the unit with the expansion of service areas.  Coaching of staff to improve and maintain excellent patient, staff, and physician satisfation.  Flexibility, tact and patience to serve as a role model in professional behavior, leadership skills, problem solving abiility, coaching guidance, risk taking behavior and interpersonal skills.  Expereince in managing change with a positive and respectful attitude.  Ability to coordinate response to patient care needs and other priorities.  Responsible for initiating Unit Specific Performance Improvement and participate in continuous quality improvement (CQI) activites.  Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. 

Hours/Shift:  Primary 8am-5pm M-F with 24 hour unit responsibility

  • Great communication skills (team/physicians/patients/families)
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledgeable in multiple computer systems and software, including but not limited to, AS400, AtStaff, and Kronos/Vision
  • Ability to activate and create accountability
  • Proven ability to work closely with physicians
  • Knowledge of physician/hospital relationships
  • Budgeting and strategies for service line growth

Requirements

Education and/or Experience Required

  • Bachelors degree in Nursing or related field; Masters preferred.
  • 5+ years progressive leadership experience, preferred
  • ACLS Certification
  • BLS Certification

Directions from the Pace:
Take Woodbine North, then right on Berryhill Road (184A) to SRMC on your left, or, take Highway 90 East to Glover Lane. Turn left on Glover Lane to Berryhill Road, then left on Berryhill Road. SRMC is ¼ of a mile on your right.

Directions from Pensacola:
Follow the directions for the Highway 90 route or take I-10 to the Avalon Boulevard, exit 22. Take a left on Avalon, then a right on Highway 90; left on Glover Lane and another left on Berryhill Road to SRMC on your right.
