Osteoporosis is a silent, progressive disease characterized by decreased bone density and increased bone fragility, with a consequent susceptibility to fracture. In the United States, over 28 million people are at high risk of developing osteoporosis and up to 1.5 million fractures a year are attributable to this disease. Health care expenditures related to osteoporosis are over $14 billion per year.
Risk Factors for osteoporosis include:
• Female
• Greater than 50 years of age
• Family history of fractures
• Early menopause
• Diet low in calcium
• Thin and small framed

A physician's order/prescription is required for all exams and should be obtained before scheduling an appointment. Appointments are required for scans and can be made by calling (850) 626-5130 Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
