Day Surgery Unit

Both inpatient and outpatient procedures are routinely performed at SRMC.  Our Day Surgery Unit is ranked among the HMA Top Performing Hospitals for Outpatient Surgery.  Same day surgeries are increasingly common, allowing the patient to recover in the comfort of their own home. In addition to providing the pre-surgical preparation, education, and care, our Day Surgery Unit can accommodate outpatients for their infusion therapy needs such as blood administration, chemotherapy and antibiotic administration. 

Our Anesthesia Department provides anesthesia services to patients during surgical, obstetric, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.  Consultation and assistance is also provided for the management of airway emergencies and intensive medical situations. 

The Recovery Room or Post Anesthesia Care Unit provides the environment where nursing care is provided in the immediate post-anesthesia period.  Basic life-sustaining needs are of the highest priority and constant vigilance is required during this phase of the patient’s recovery from the administration of sedation/analgesia or anesthetic agents and techniques.
